Welcome Violinist Tanya Charles

We are very excited and honoured to welcome Tanya Charles as our new violin teaching artist!
Described as an “intense and exciting” (The WholeNote Magazine) and “colourful and bold” (Musical Toronto) violinist, Tanya has performed across Canada, the USA and the Caribbean as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Tanya is concertmaster of the Colour of Music Festival Orchestra and the Colour of Music Festival Virtuosi Ensemble in Charleston, South Carolina. In Toronto, she performs with Sinfonia Toronto and the Odin String Quartet. She also performs with Toronto-based mariachi band Viva Mexico Mariachi and has recorded and performed alongside many mainstream artists such as Shad, K-Os and Stevie Wonder.
Tanya is a dedicated educator. She assisted with the implementation of a string-training program in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and as a featured artist of the 2015 Scotiabank Northern Lights Music Festival in Ajijic, Jalisco (Mexico), she provided private lessons and masterclasses at the Centro Regional de Estudios Musicales program.
Tanya holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto and an Artist Diploma in Orchestral Performance from the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Please see http://www.axismusic.ca/artists/ for her complete biography.
